ERP-One took on the challenge of upgrading a global JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2 system, navigating complex regional differences, ongoing projects, and COVID-19 protocols to deliver exceptional results.

Challenges

Upgrading to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2 presented a myriad of challenges. Firstly, the upgrade was essential to maintain hardware certification, ensuring compliance and system reliability. Secondly, with multiple corporate regions each with its own EnterpriseOne environment, coordinating resources and managing object management became a significant challenge. Thirdly, the presence of several simultaneous projects within the organization required meticulous coordination to avoid resource conflicts. Lastly, the pandemic introduced additional complexities, with onsite work restrictions and resource reallocation necessitating innovative solutions.

Solution

ERP-One devised a comprehensive solution to address these challenges:

- Regional Staggered Timeline: Separate CRP, training, and go-live phases were implemented for each corporate region, ensuring efficient resource allocation and minimizing disruptions.

- Data Analysis with DWS Dimensions: DWS Dimensions was utilized to analyze data baselines, facilitating efficient retrofitting efforts and ensuring data integrity.

- Agile Retrofit Methodology: Agile methodology was employed for retrofit work, enabling effective management of resourcing constraints and ensuring flexibility throughout the process.

- Streamlined Go-Lives with Mimix Availability: Mimix Availability was leveraged to replicate production data to pre-live 9.2 systems, streamlining go-live processes and minimizing downtime.

- Training and Version Comparisons: Training videos were created for end-user 9.2 training, while a custom Excel application facilitated version comparisons between regions, ensuring consistency and compatibility.

- Optimized Go-Live Procedures: Go-live procedures were tailored and optimized to reduce downtime within the required 12-hour window, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

Results

Firstly, the ERP platform was prepared for a seamless transition to the cloud, ensuring scalability and agility for future growth. Secondly, the upgrade enhanced system security and capabilities, ensuring data integrity and compliance with industry standards. Thirdly, users experienced improved performance and functionality, while integrations were streamlined for enhanced efficiency.

The project was completed successfully within the original timelines and budget, showcasing ERP-One's commitment to excellence and efficiency. Additionally, new JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2 features were introduced to users through Proof of Concept workshops, driving innovation and maximizing system utilization. A multi-faceted UDO governance model was created, alongside a functional script repository, facilitating comprehensive User Acceptance Testing across all global regions.

ERP-One's successful delivery of the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2 upgrade set a new standard for ERP implementation and management. By leveraging innovation, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence, ERP-One not only navigated complex challenges but also unlocked new opportunities for the client.
